A summer school for PhD students (and interested academics) will be held at IdeaSquare for the first time on June 9th–13th this year. This program is built around experimentation-driven methodologies, which have been published as methodological notes in the CERN Ideasquare Journal of Experimental Innovation.
The school will be structured into two parts:
  1. Learning from Experts – Participants will explore experimentation-driven methodologies applied to concrete research questions in the CERN environment, guided by:
  • Design Research – Jan Auernhammer, Research Engineer, Center for Design Research, Stanford University
  • Design Principles – Leona Chandra Kruse, Professor of Information Systems, University of Agder; Lead of CHERISH Research Group; Senior Editor, EJIS
  • Design Science – Raymond Opdenakker, Lecturer, Eindhoven Technical University; Co-CEO, Bureau Lara; Associate Editor, Production
  1. Hands-on Experimentation – In the program’s second half, participants will conduct an experiment at IdeaSquare, applying what they have learned.
